William Edsel Snyder

William Edsel Snyder, 83 of Mt. Morris, PA passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday February 7th, 2017, with his loved ones by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, the late Lynne Cain Snyder who died May 24, 2016.

                He was born January 17, 1934 in Elkins WV, the son of the late Milford “Buck” and Kathleen Taylor Snyder.

               Our father, was a devoted Christian and served God faithfully in his daily life along with teaching Sunday School.

               He was a 1951 graduate of Clay Battelle High School.  

He was a coal miner for 40 years until his retirement from Emerald Mines in Waynesburg, PA.  He was a Korean War Veteran, 40th Inf. Division, Fox Company,224 INF Regiment, 2nd Battalion.  

             He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #153 F & AM in Waynesburg, PA. He was a member of the James T. Maxon American Legion post #992 in Mt. Morris,PA. and The Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. He was a devoted Mountaineer Fan and loved basketball.

              Surviving are his 5 children:  Timothy (Helen) Snyder, of Mt. Morris, PA., Bryan (Judy) Snyder, of Waynesburg, PA., Mark (Vicki) Snyder, of Waynesburg, PA., Crystal (Jim) Garber, of Waynesburg, PA., and Katreena Snyder of Morgantown, WV.

10 Grandchildren:  Timothy (Amber), Adam, Michael (Ron), Hailey, Nicholas, Codie (Faleesha), Cara, Matthew, Jeremiah, and Devin; 7 Great-grandchildren, Abby, Emily, Lilly, Trenton, Bentlie, Saylor, and Gracie; 2 Siblings, Denny (Jane) Snyder, of Pentress, WV and Judy (John) Thompson of Philadelphia,PA.

              Deceased, in addition to his parents, are brothers Herbert Snyder and James Snyder, and Sister Ellen Rubino , 2 grandsons, Lance Cpl. Joshua Snyder, and Tyler Ray Garber.

He will be lovingly remembered by all the lives he touched with his generosity and kindness.

 Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM the time of the service on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director,324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478  Mount Morris, PA 15349 with Pastor  Wanda Brosky officiating.  Interment will be held at a later date at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, in Mt. Morris, PA. Waynesburg Masonic Lodge #153 F & AM will hold services at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Funeral Home.  Information is online at www.milliken-throckmortonfh.com.
