Maggie Valley-Agnes Finger Greene, age 88, passed away on January 28, 2015, at The Homestead. Agnes was born in Haywood County, on May 7, 1926, to the late Rufus and Della Nelson Finger. She was an exceptional cook who loved taking care of people, especially her family. Agnes was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church, of which she was the oldest member and was also a charter member. In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her son, Steven Greene. Agnes is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Greene; a son, Ed Greene; two daughters, Elaine Welch (Jerry) and Susan Smith (Jimmy); two sisters, Jean Sutton and Inez Green; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. At Agnes’ request there will not be a public service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Homestead in care of Haywood Healthcare Foundation at 127 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
