Elizabeth Irene Knight

Mrs. Irene Wood Knight age 89, of Hazelwood, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2014 at Autumn Care. She was born in Jackson County to the late Frank Ora and Gertie Mills Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Knight; brothers Coy, Lester, Ray and Dallas Wood; sisters Ida Wood, Ruth Underwood, Mae Keever, Ora Cogdill; and great-grandson Joshua Powell. Mrs. Knight worked for Dayco and also at the Red Wing Gift Shop before becoming a full time homemaker. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Survivors include her “son” Robert Hugh Cogdill of Waynesville; grandchildren Michael Cogdill of Charlotte, Jennifer McNany of Stanley; great grandchildren Haley and Jamie; and numerous nephews and nieces. At her request no viewing or funeral services will be held, the family will hold a private graveside service where she will be laid to rest beside Samuel at Buchanan Cemetery.
