Evelyn Marie Bernard

Evelyn Marie (Petrarca) Bernard, 95, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at her home. She was born on February 14, 1926 (yes a Valentine Baby) in Akron, Ohio. The daughter of Nicola Petrarca and Elva (Cappo) Petrarca.

Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper in Miami, Florida until retiring and moving to North Carolina.

She loved her family with all that she was! She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her 2 favorite teams (the Hurricanes and the Dolphins). She especially loved watching them with her grandsons while snacking on her No Salt chips (her favorite) She was one of a kind and was loved by everyone she met. She will truly be missed!]

Preceded in death were her parents Nicola and Elva Petrarca , sister Mary Pichichero (Michael "Picky), brothers Frank Petrarca (Mary), Robert Petrarca (Lois) all from Ohio, son Earl Ray Bernard from Florida.

Survived by her children, daughter Sherrie Reese (Marvin), son Allen E. Hopper (Allison) of North Carolina. Grandchildren Katherine Bukoffsky (James),Frank E. Hopper (Miranda), Nancy Chick (Justin), Antonio Bernard II (Samantha), Daniel Taylor (Ami). Great grandchildren Jason Bukoffsky, Kinsley Hopper, Hunter Thomas, Hayley Thomas, Sara Bernard, Ralph Bernard, Antonio Bernard, Skyler Bernard, Zaylee Davis, Courtney Boutwell, Hannah Boutwell, Ezra Boutwell and Jordyn Pratt (Brian) and Great Great Granddaughter Salem Gray Pratt. She had three special friends/caregivers that she loved so very much Susan Turner, Stan Jarratt and Arden Hopper. She was loved by all who knew her and she will truly be missed.

Visitation will on Tuesday, August 3 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at Garrett Funeral Home with service to follow at 3:00 pm at the Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in the Chapel of Serenity Mausoleum. Pastor Marty Pressley from Bryson City Church of God will officiate.
