Evelyn Barker Jones

Evelyn Barker Jones, age 92, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Evelyn was born on July 22, 1930, in the Alarka Section of Swain County to the late Wilburn and Mary Woodard Barker. She enjoyed yard sales, thrift shops and cooking. Most of all Evelyn loved the Lord. Evelyn loved her family beyond words. Evelyn loved people and people loved her. Evelyn was gifted at playing her guitar and loved playing at church gatherings and nursing homes.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Jones; son, Jimmy Jones; grandson, Kade Jones; and several brothers and sisters.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Doug Jones and wife Jane; daughter-in-law, Judy Jones; grandchildren, Hardy, Jason, Hannah, Adam, Joseph, Brian, David and Randy; and several great-grandchildren.

Private Graveside Services will be held with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SARGE'S Animal Rescue.
