Waynesville-Gertie Maye Beasley, 84, died on July 14, 2015. Gertie Maye was born in Haywood County on May 26, 1931, to the late Harvey and Lorena Hill Rathbone. Gertie Maye enjoyed sewing, quilting, and fishing. In addition to her parents, Gertie Maye was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Beasley; one sister and four brothers. Gertie Maye is survived by daughters, Wanda Beasley; Becky Franklin, and Susie Wells; son, Bob Beasley; grandchildren, Veronica Saunders, Scottie Messer, David Williams, Cindy Williams, Marsha Clark, Kenneth Wells, Michael Wells, Lisa Singleton, and Matt Franklin; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, July 18, at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-10AM on Saturday, July 18, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations and at other times at 124 Messer Valley Lane, Canton, NC.
