Gertrude Marie Frady Best

Gertrude Marie Frady Best, age 90, of Clyde, NC passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. Gertrude was born in Sylva, NC, on April 20, 1934, to the late Herman and Sarah Crawford Frady.

Gertrude was a homemaker in her early life. Later, she was a vocational nurse who dearly loved her patients and treated them like family. Her fondness for canning, preserving, & cooking was enjoyed by all who knew her. She could take the least of something and turn it into a meal.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her numerous friends and family members. We were blessed to have five generations celebrate her birthday last year.

She loved her church, James Chapel, and attended faithfully, reciting Scripture as often as she could.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Edgar Ernest Best, and all but one of her siblings.

She is survived by sister, Gladys, four children - Marilyn Faris, Tina Morrison, Kim Jones, & David Best - and countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & one great-great-grandson. Her best friend, Jimmy Rhodes, was with her at the end.

Now, she can greet our beloved Papa Ern in eternity, joined with our precious Zackie and Philip, and so many other loved ones.

Her body was made whole and without pain as she greeted her Savior in eternity. She no longer feels any grief or worry from this earthly plane.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Jeffery Moore officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett- Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
