Grover Paul Payne, age 91, formerly of Waynesville passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Tallahassee, FL. Grover was born in Madison County on March 28, 1934, to the late Roosevelt and Bell Lunsford Payne. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all, Grover enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Grover was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Price Payne; two brothers; and one sister.
Grover is survived by his sons, Garry (Donna) and Michael (Janice) Payne; daughter, Gloria Linton (Tony) ; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 13, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Harry Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 12, at the funeral home.
