

Waynesville-Helen Jewel Boyd, died on September 21, 2016, at Mission Hospital-Memorial Campus. Helen was born in Haywood County on September 26, 1927, to the late Roy and Minnie Seay Robinson. Helen was a lifelong resident of Waynesville and a longtime member of Waynesville First United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player, reader and knitter. She loved her community and there was nothing better than a clear, sunny day in the mountains. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Enos Riley Boyd; a sister, Almarie Clark; two brothers, Buddy and Bobby Robinson; and a niece Linda Condon. Helen is survived by her daughter, Holly Brooks and her husband Bruce; and a nephew, Michael Robinson. A memorial service celebrating Helen’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, at Waynesville First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sandy Giles officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church narthex.
