

Canton-Illa Faye Fish Teixeira, 72 passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019, surrounded by her family. Illa Faye was born in Haywood County on April 27, 1947, to the late John Hardy and Clara Lou Welch Fish. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and dancing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially at cookouts and watching her grandchildren around the pool. Illa Faye retired from Little Champion and was a founding member of Cruso Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to her parents, Illa Faye was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Gabrial Mathis; and brothers, Vance Fish and John “Johnny” Fish, Jr.
Illa Faye is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jose’ “Joe” Teixeira; son, Jarrett O’Neil; daughters, Angie Mathis (Danny), Regina Rigdon, and Nikki Barnwell (Brian); brothers, Joe Bob Fish and Wayne Fish (Nellie); sister, Sharon Moore; grandchildren, Dillon O’Neil, Kassi O’Neil, Cody Barnwell (Amber), Casey Barnwell, Rebecca Rathbone, Magnum Rathbone (Amanda), Jason Mathis (Rebecca), Nathan Mathis, Andrew Mathis, Ashley Breedlove (Chris); 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At Illa Faye’s request services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice at Four Seasons Foundation at 211 Main St. Hendersonville, NC 28702.
The family would like to offer a special word of thanks to the nurses and staff at Four Seasons Hospice , the Cruso Volunteer Fire Department, and close friends.
