James "Jim" Andrew Lunsford, age 78, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Duke University Hospital. Jim was born in Haywood County on February 10, 1946, to the late Lloyd and Eunice Stuart Lunsford. He loved to fish, sit on the porch, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. Jim retired from Dayco after 30 years of faithful service.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Lanning Lunsford; and his brother, Bob Lunsford.
Jim is survived by his son, Ricky (Lori ) Lunsford; daughter, Teresa (Carl) McMurray; grandsons, Matthew McMurray and Jason Ray; great grandchildren, Alex and Weston; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at Jim's residence.
