My thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family and all of those friends and loved ones who were drawn to him. Uncle Jimmie was always smiling and full of joy.  With such a large family like the James family, we had many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Being the youngest grandchild of CB and Sally James, I was somewhat spoiled by him.  I will miss that smile, the laugh, and the joy he gave us all.  Rest in Peace and say hi to dad for me Uncle Jimmie.

This man used to take the grandkids on weekend adventures. We fished, hiked and just occupied time. He will be truly missed , although he is now with the lord, mamas and Teresa… I love you papaw.

I really could write a long letter of what this man has taught me about life. He was a great role model. He taught by example things like hard work, determination, honesty, reliability, integrity, and about being a friend. He made friends everywhere he went. He worked hard but always made time for us to slip off and go fishing. When I was about 6 years old I remember the time he woke us kids up in the middle of the night  (me, Laura, and Teresa). He marched us out to our 1957 Chevrolet Station Wagon and put us back to bed in the back of that wagon. He drove probably 5 or 6 hours and when we woke up, we were parked on the beach. He was already out surf fishing. We played on the beach all day. At lunch time, momma spread out our lunch on the tailgate. We ate and played again all afternoon while he fished. When it got dark, he loaded us back in the car and drove home while we slept. Now I realize that was our equivalent of a summer vacation. We didn't have much, but he made sure we had a good time together. 

I remember when I would ride in the car with him. Patsy Cline cassette playing on the stereo, stopping on the side of the road and opening up the back of the car to get warm sodas and potato chips.
I remember sitting on the couch watching pro wrestling with him. He got so excited watching "rasslin'".
I remember every birthday or Christmas present I ever got from him was wrapped in the comic strips from the newspaper.
I remember our fishing trips. Papaw and me would be the first two with a line in the water while everyone else unloaded the truck.
I remember him teaching me how to make the sound of a horse galloping and how to make the "frog in my arm" jump.
The biggest thing I remember is he always had a smile on his face like he knew something you didn't know. And he was always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh.

I met Jimmie many years ago at the Barn in Mills River. 
He was a great dancer, sweet, funny, polite and a perfect gentleman.
He will be missed greatly.
We will cherish his memory forever.

There are so many good memories that I have of Pappaw Jim. He was always that grandparent that would let you get away with a little more mischief, but Anthony and I found his limit when we tricked him into putting his arm into the new automated blood pressure machine at K-Mart. He sat still, we pushed the button and ran away as he squealed with his arm caught in the trap. He swore that he'd never take us anywhere together again. I'm not sure if he ever did.

So Sorry for the loss of your father, I will always remember that little giggle.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.  We always enjoyed our  visits to the Hazelwood drug store and would see Jimmy there with Duke and Geraldine.  Then after the drug store closed, he would visit each month at the office and we would talk about those memories. May your strength carry on during this difficult time and may Jimmy rest in peace.
