Jay was born September 11, 1961 in Ticonderoga, New York. He graduated from La Salle Institute, a military high school; and thereafter attended Cornell University, graduating in 1987.
Jay enjoyed a distinguished career. He rose to become a Managing Director of the Global Real Estate Finance Group for Lehman Brothers; and later, the founding and Managing Member of Armet Capital, LLC, a provider of real estate financing and investment advisory services.
Although a New Yorker at heart, Jay semi-retired to the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville for a peaceful life with his beloved dogs Maggie and Seamus. He was most happy, however, discussing the achievements of sons, Colin and Keenan. Both of whom share their father's talents for academic achievement and career success.
Jay seriously rooted for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He never missed a game and absolutely loved watching his teams win.
Many lifelong friends remember his enormous personality, quick mind, expert marksmanship, unfailing generosity, tremendous loyalty, and ability to make a delicious meal on a moment's notice.
Those who cleared his path are father Michael J. Flannery, mother Mary Flannery, nee Frasco; Sister Colleen, and nephew Sullivan. Loved ones who miss him every day are sons Colin and Keenan; Brother Michael (Rebecca); Sister Rita; nieces Molly and Katie, and nephews Zeke and Nate.
Jay lived life in the moment and was taken from us far too soon.
A private memorial will be held later in the year.
The family requests any donations in his memory be made to Fate Foundation https://fate.charity.
