Katie F. Messer

Katie F. Messer, age 96, of Waynesville, NC went home to be with The Lord on Friday, October 8, 2021. Katie was born in Haywood County, NC on June 30, 1925 to the late John Henry and Amanda Sutton Franklin.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Horace E. Messer; daughter, Cathy Marie Messer; and twelve brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory is her children, Edwin D. (Faye) Messer and Becky (Leonard) Davis; grandchildren, Judy (Willy), Joni (Michael), Marty, Brad (Amy), Chris, Tara (Scott), Melissa (Shane), and April; sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, October 15, 2021 in the Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family requests that all visitors wear masks during visitation and services.
