Thinking of my friend Lidia Gelis today on the anniversary of her passing. She was not only a business partner, but also like a second mama to me. I miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs, her healing touch, and just her presence in our lives. I will forever be grateful fpr the time shared and memories made, even if it will never feel like enough time together. I'm grateful our lasts words to one another were "Happy Birthday" and "I love you".

Part 2: I found out because a shared client texted me yesterday to share her condolences and then I found her obituary online. I have no idea the circumstances of her passing, but I know she has returned to the source and is one with the universe. We last spoke on her birthday - September 21st - after she stopped by our new office to say "hi" on a day I was not at work. The last thing she said to me was "Happy birthday in advance" as we are both Libras and our birthdays are only a couple weeks apart. I am heartbroken that I won't be able to see her again like we had planned - we had talked about me doing some massage for her and her doing a tarot reading for me - but I know she is a part of me always, even perhaps closer now in the energetic realm, as we are not divided by physical body, but united in spirit. My heart is with her mother Raymunda, as well as Lidia's many sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins... I know Lidia is deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know and be loved by her... she loved and cared deeply and it was evident in all her works. Lidia has left a legacy of love.

I am thankful to have known my dear friend Lidia Gelis for 21 years. We moved to Waynesville within the same year - 2000 - when I was 20yo and she was 46yo - a time when we both needed nurturing from a mother-daughter-like relationship. We were both new massage therapists coming to the mountains of NC to share our work with others while soaking up the healing forces offered by the womb of these hills. We opened a massage therapy practice together - The Healing Arts Oasis - and worked together harmoniously for many years. Circumstances with our landlord led to us seeking other opportunities and we both moved into private practice, but we still collaborated our work to help various shared clients. She remained a loyal and supportive friend throughout all my life's big milestones and changes and she was helpful with Malachi when he was a little fella. Lidia loved unconditionally and was accepting and supportive of me even when others didn't understand my unconventional life. She grounded me and guided me in ways that really helped to shape my path. I am ever grateful to have been lucky enough to trade bodywork with her and receive her amazing massage and cranial sacral therapies. She had very gentle, caring, healing hands and she literally made a huge difference in the lives of all the people she touched. Lidia taught me a valuable lesson in bodywork - through example - that massage doesn't have to be deep to be effective. We also shared several fun adventures together such as taking my son Malachi to Ripley's Aquarium and an epic beach trip in Savanah, GA when she lived there. Those memories will last a lifetime. 

The day before Thanksgiving I found out my dear friend has died - 1 month ago exactly on Oct. 25th, 2021 at the age of 67. I found out because a shared client texted me yesterday to share her condolences and then I found her obituary online... (part 2 continued in next post)

Aunt Lidia,                                                                                                                                                                                       I never really got a chance to know you. I met u when I was just 8 yrs old. Wish that we couldve had that aunt & niece relationship. Learning about your passing has sadden me and weighs heavy on my mind and heart. I wish I couldve had memories of you to share. May you rejoice in the presence of God and my cousin Patricia. It aches our hearts to know that our sister is no longer with us. 
She was a very unique and loving soul. She really loved helping others and enjoyed being outside. 
She was spiritual and loved being with family. 
She will be missed very much; But we know she is in a glorious place where she no longer has pain and that she will be watching over us from Heaven.
