Max Gene Pressley

Sylva-Max Gene Pressley, 64 passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at his residence. Max was born in Kingston, TN on December 24, 1956, to the late Johnnie and Edith Messer Pressley. Max enjoyed working on cars, fishing, listening to bluegrass music and making birdhouses out of gourds. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved his family and his animals.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his sisters, Betsy Pressley, Nancy Green, and Margaret Sluder; and his son-in-law, Eric Holcombe.

Max is survived by his daughter, April Holcombe; grandson, Brian Holcombe (Lauren); great-grandson, Wesley Holcombe; one brother, JB Pressley (Helen); and three sisters, Joyce Frady (Kenneth) of Woodruff, SC, Judy Smathers McClure of Sylva, NC and Rose Hightower of Canton, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 12, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Johnnie Passmore officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 11, at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Max's sister, Judy Smathers McClure.
