Rebecca Hope Atkins Wiley

Waynesville-Rebecca Hope Atkins Wiley, age 54, passed away on January 16, 2015, at UNC Health-NC Memorial Hospital after a long battle against leukemia. Rebecca was born in Bennettsville, SC on October 1, 1960, to the late Lawrence and Betty Atkins, but had resided in Waynesville since her early teens. She loved working in her flower garden and taking care of “her men” and Delilah. Rebecca had a special love for the children at First United Methodist Church, of Waynesville where she had served as Financial Secretary for over 21 years. In addition to her parents Rebecca was preceded in death by a brother, David Atkins. Rebecca is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gary Wiley; sons Andrew, Timothy and Grady Wiley; a brother John Atkins; and a sister, Mary Beth Foster. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, at First United Methodist Church, Waynesville with the Reverend Sandy Giles, the Reverend Dr. Robert Blackburn, and Reverend Hardy Tippet officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM prior to the service at the church.
