Robert "Bob" Martin Shannon Jr.

Waynesville-Robert “Bob” Martin Shannon, Jr., 56 passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020. Bob was born in West Islip on Long Island, NY on July 25, 1963, to the late Robert Martin Shannon, Sr. and the late Barbara Ann Gervato Shannon. He was a machinist, an electrician, carpenter, and “Jack of all trades”. Bob loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and hanging out with his many friends. Bob loved his family and friends more than anything.

Bob is survived by his life partner, Freda Jenkins and their daughter, Shelby Jenkins of Maggie Valley; his step-daughter, Jamie Thompson (Ryan) of Waynesville; his brother, Mark Shannon (Sherry) of Canton; his sisters, Jennifer Shannon of Alpharetta, GA and Noelle Shannon Traynham (Brian) of Arden; his grandchildren, Nolan and Livia; Mamaw-Shelby Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews: Andy Rogers (Shauna), Alden Shannon (Becca), Bridgette Traynham, Elliette McElroy, Alex Traynham, April Parkins (Anthony), Tiffany Parkins (Jamie Sutton), Selena Faw (Wesley), Jeanice Ford, Jason Ball (Tasha), Cade Parkins, and of course, “Bob O”, his Old English Bulldog.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, February 7, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations in Waynesville. Entombment will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 8, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. There will be a Celebration of Life held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, at Elevated Mountain Distillery in Maggie Valley.
