Rufus Thomas Carswell

Rufus Thomas Carswell 1920 – 2014 Rufus Thomas Carswell, 94, of Waynesville, NC passed away December 11, 2014 in Ocala, FL. He was born in Waynesville on February 14, 1920 to the late John and Anna Margaret Carswell. He served as Captain in the US Army during WWII. He was also a member of the Hazelwood Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Faye Carswell; Siblings, Sam Carswell, Richard Carswell, Mark Carswell, Wallace Carswell, Sarah Ann Galloway and Mildred Yarborough. Survivors include a daughter, Jan McQuade (Jim) of Ocala, FL; son , Tommy Carswell (Charlene) of Lake Junaluska, NC; grandchildren, Trip Carswell of Bryson City, NC, Heather McNeish of Ocala, FL, and Charlie Carswell of Austin, TX; brother, Fred Carswell of Johnson City, TN; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Hazelwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Lolley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.
