Waynesville-Samuel Winford Jones, 79 passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 after a sudden illness. Sam was born in Haywood County on June 29, 1942 to the late Vee and Launa McClure Jones. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Menovich Jones, just 12 days before his passing.
Left to grieve for his loss are his daughter, Rita Rathbone (Matt); and son, Leslie as well as his church family and friends including those made in his 30-year career at Wellco. He built and played dulcimers and enjoyed many pickin' sessions with others that loved Appalachian folk music.
The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30pm on Thursday, November 18th followed by a graveside service at Greenhill Cemetery at 2:00pm.
