Wayne Harold Gibson, 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Mission Hospital. Wayne was born in Jackson County on June 6, 1939, to the late Frank and Pearlie Elders Gibson. Wayne enjoyed NASCAR and Bluegrass Music, even playing Bluegrass Music. He retired from Lea Industries.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his three brothers, Odel (Martha) Gibson, AC (Mildred) Gibson and Roosevelt Gibson; and four sisters, Eloise (infant) Gibson, Eulalah (Dave) Messer, Margie (Robert) Stines and Iola (Dave) Lewis.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Wanda Gibson (Roy Ballew); grandchildren, RJ, Michelle and Sarah; two sisters, Cumi (Owen) Plaster of Sylva, Willamae (Cleone) Opfer of Washington; sister-in-law Autherine Gibson of Balsam; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Mark Golden officiating.
