Wilma Lee Sorrells Barnes “Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother” Wilma Lee Sorrells Barnes, 59, of Asheville, passed away Monday, June 01, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Haywood County, NC on July 27, 1955. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed dearly. She is preceded in death by her father, Bruce Sorrells and brothers, Joe Sorrells and Fornice Sorrells. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Pauline Sorrells; husband of 37 years, Russell E. Barnes; daughters, Wendy Kristen Sorrells, Jennifer Leigh Barnwell and husband Martin, and step daughter, Margaret Ann Barnes; brother, Jimmy Sorrells; sister, Vivian Nelson; six grandchildren, Isaiah, Ethan and Novalee Barnwell, Nicole Barnes, and Tiffany and Tabatha Banks; one great grandchild, Cayde; special nieces, Trista Stamey and Courtney Gentry and nephew, Jimmy Sorrells, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.
