Eulogy for Jane L. Froussard at First United Methodist Church of Webster Groves, Missouri

I remember when growing up my grandma and I would spend time together going for walks, playing cards, and seeing plays. We would often times just share stories about other times we spent together. She shared stories about herself growing up. She will be deeply missed.

My grandma, Jane Froussard, was a very special person who had a great impact on all our lives. We all have great and fond memories of her and will never forget her. She taught all us many things throughout her 87 years with us.  She always lived her life to the fullest. My grandma did many things throughout her life. I want to encourage you to participate (and/or start doing) these things in order to have a full life, such as my grandma. Here are a few things that I (and hopefully you too) learned from my grandma:
1. Don't be afraid to love. My grandma was lucky in love, twice. She was happily married to Don Miller (who unfortunately passed away during World War II) and Virgil Froussard, my grandpa. She always had kindness, compassion, and affection for both of these men. 
2. Dance. My always grandma loved a good tune to shake her tale feather, too. I will never forget being whisked and twirled around the living room with my grandma. Also, my grandparents belonged to a dance group for years and would always step out dressed to the 9s once a month and go around to the different country clubs in the St. Louis area. It was the highlight of the month.
3. Sing. My grandma sang in various competitions when she has a child with her siblings. Her love for singing was carried on throughout her life because I remember singing Christmas Carols into the wee hours of the night with her. Later in her life, she would frequently have the radio turned up with some classic country music and would always be humming a tune when people stopped by. 
4. Learn to play an instrument. My grandma loved to play her baby grand piano that my grandfather gave her as a birthday present. She could always tickle the ivories even when she was sick in bed. She always loved a good piano tune.  
5. Put your own version of the pronunciation of words to make a statement. My grandma always had her own pronunciation for a word. So when you see my mother, Michelle, later on today be sure to call her “Me-shell” like my grandma did. 
6. Get the 411 (information) on everyone you meet. Before my grandma would conduct business with you she always needed to know the following information: Where were you born? Where do you live? Do you have any children? How long have you been working here? She did this in order to start up a conversation because she loved to talk and interact with people.  
7. Laugh. Life is too serious. Laughter is the best way to get through difficult times.  My grandma was always laughing. In fact, I am sure she is laughing at me, now, and whispering in my ear to hurry up and finish this crazy eulogy. 
8. Eat, Drink, and be Merry. My grandma always would say that she “could eat like a truck driver” and she could probably drink anybody under the table. Her favorite drink for the record was scotch and water and then bourbon and water. 
9. Get involved in the community. She was a founding member of the Webster Groves Herb Society. At the church she was a member of the quilting group and former choir member. She was a community volunteer taking the sick to doctor visits. She also volunteered at Mary Queen and Mother.
10. Don't be afraid to talk politics. My grandma was a proud Democrat and my grandfather was an opinionated Republican. Lets just table this conversation now. 
11. Travel. She went to many places throughout her live. She honeymooned in Mexico. My grandma, grandpa, and mother would frequently make a yearly pilgrimage “Eagle Hurst Ranch”. She went to Portugal with my grandpa to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.   
12. Pray. She would attend church every Sunday in her best attire. Later in life, she was not physically able to attend but she would always attend every Sunday in spirit. 
13. Be close and always available to friends and family. She would light up when she was surrounded in the company of friends and family. She would drop everything to talk, chat, or visit with us. Sometimes burning dinner but it was well worth it. 
14. Give to others in need. She gave to many charities and family members during times of need. Some of her favorite charities were: Feed My People, The USO, Shalom House, First United Methodist Church “Feed the Fishes” campaign. I also remember her sending financial assistance to her niece who was battling cancer. She would always offer to pay for doctor's bills and medicine when any family member got sick. She would never want us to worry because she just wanted us to get well.  
15. Smile and always have a kind ear and word to say. No matter what was going on she would always stop and listen to you. She would never want anyone to be sad. She would always smile and listen. She would always offer encouraging words that always made the situation seem not as bad. 
16. Celebrate and Party.  My grandma loved and lived for parties. Most holidays, birthdays, block parties, and special occasions were always initiated and planned by her. She always wanted people to be happy and celebrate life.

So grandma, we celebrate you today.  My family and I would like to invite you all for a little reception after the memorial service in honor of my grandma. We look forward to meeting and seeing you all. Thank you.

Jane was a gentle friend to those of us who knew her at the Webster Groves Public Library.  We will remember how kind she was to us and her fellow readers.  Jean and friends

Mrs. Froussard was a customer of mine at a place I used to work at a few years ago. When I saw her picture in the WG/Kirkwood Times, I was saddened to hear the news. Mrs. Froussard always had a smile and was fun to be around when she came in. To her family, I'm very sorry for your loss. Your Mother, Grandmother, Aunt etc. brought a smile & a little bit of sunshine to everyone she came in contact with. She will certainly be missed.

Jane was in my Weight Watcher's class about 14 years ago in Crestwood. She and a friend of hers ( who's name I can't remember now) always sat behind my friend (also Jane) and I. We always had a great time together sharing lots & lots of laughs...and of course, losing weight and getting beautiful, too! I only knew her for a brief time, but when I saw her picture in our Times newspaper, I was so sad! She  left a lasting impression on my heart...one that makes me smile when I think of her!  My condolences go out to all of you! I'm sure she will be greatly missed! Sincerely,

I will always remember Jane with her beautiful smile, loving eyes and contagious laugh that would fill a room.  I met Jane many years ago through the Webster Groves Herb Society where I looked forward to seeing her at each meeting.  Jane was always so kind and knowledgeable, one to go to with questions about herbs.  I will miss Jane and be forever grateful that I was able to know her.  God bless her family.

    Jane was a daughter, sister, wife, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend.  She was also the best grandmother-in-law I have ever known.  That is fitting because I was the best grandson-in-law she had ever known.  I am not fully certain if that is because my first gift to her was a bottle of Old Smuggler Scotch.  
    Jane was very strong in her faith, so much so she was able to put up with her Catholic family.  Jane was so strong in her faith she was able to tell all of us "I am not afraid to die', noting how happy her life with all of us was, especially Virgil.  She served as a fine example of what it is to be a Christian.  She was kind, generous, loving, and most of all forgiving.  
    I feel totally blessed to have known Jane for the last 14 years.

I love you Aunt Jane. I will never forget the summers Pat & I spent with you. You were always so full of love & so willing to share your love. I am truly blessed to have had you as my Aunt. You are with Uncle Virgil now, so I know the two of you are happy. I will miss you.

Michelle & family, I was very sad to hear of your mother's passing.  She was a WONDERFUL lady.  I remember all of the family get togethers as we grew up.  They were so much fun.  She will surely be missed.  What a reunion there is in heaven.  Our thoughts & prayers are with you.

Aunt Jane,
I remember the family reunions that were always held at your house, and how much I loved seeing the entire family together. I believe with all my heart that you're in a much better place, having another big reunion right now. You were truly a great lady, and you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.

Aunt Jane ~ We will miss you so much.  I enjoyed the phone conversations we had frequently.  Although we lived so far away from each other, we were still close in heart.  You left this world on Gary's birthday.  You were always so sweet and kind to him.  You were a great lady and I know you are having a great reunion with Mom, Ma Winnie, Aunt Sue, Aunt June and Uncle Jimmy. We will always think of you with great love and respect.

We had fun at the Rimkus farm on her' birthday. Still have pictures of her on the buggy ride. Great loss to all of us.

We had a good time at the Rimkus farm in Pacific.When we celebrated her birthday!She will be sadly missed by all of us...

Grandma, I will miss talking to you on the phone telling about my day at work
and you have always looked out for us.

Grandma, I will miss calling you up every week and asking if you want to ride the 151 through Chicago with me. Telling you when we past the Drake Hotel and you telling me what a great time you had there once. You were always with me even when I moved out of St.Louis and you still are.

I had the pleasure of meeting your Grandma last year.  She led a beautiful life surrounded by her family and loved ones, and her memory will live on in you.  My condolences and prayers go out to the Rimkus family.
