Maurine and my Mom, Mary Roper, were BFFs in their last few years--inseparable. I was lucky to be included. They had dinner together, watched Cardinals games together, and they were always planning their next trip--whether across the country or to Webster Pres. When times were tough for me they shared their encouraging beliefs: "Be kind, and do NOT hurt them back." Their favorite quote was from the Apostle Paul: "Go into the world in peace, have courage, hold on to what is right. Return no one evil for evil, strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, help the suffering, honor everyone." This is how they lived. The last religious belief Maurine shared with me is that the men on the crosses next to Jesus were assured by him that "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Maurine is now in Paradise, and I'm so blessed that she was in our lives.

Maurine was my aunt, second mother, my lovely friend.  I can hear her voice and her laugh as I type.  I cannot imagine a better friend for my parents, Earl and Ahme Quist.  Mary and Beth, I hope your lives are wonderful and please know that I am blessed to have been part of your family.  Your Mom and Dad were kind, loving people.  My condolences to you and your families.

Maurine was always so helpful and supportive when I would sub in her Department at Eureka.  I would always look forward to the day, to see her and Karen.  I don't ever remember her speaking poorly of anyone.  when she knew someone to be a "troublemaker" she would just suggest "you may want to keep and eye on that one."
It was sad to watch the Parkinson's ravage her body. She will be missed.
So sorry for your loss.

I knew Maurine through her work with the Rockwood School District and our Home Economics classes.  We loved her visits and appreciated her help.

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing.  I have about a thousand happy memories of her at your house on Simmons, around school events and on various weekends away in the camper. She and your dad were rare and hilarious people.  My thoughts are with you!

Favorite memory of ours is seeing her at the age of 75 or so climb on the tube behind the boat, get settled..and say ,"wait a minute, I need my beer."
She certainly lived life to the fullest!

Wonderful lady. I was an usher at Cardinal games for years when she was able to attend.  I torally enjoyed Her company.

My deepest sympathy to your family. I was a student of hers at U. City High School in the mid fifties. I was very fond of her.
