Laurie, I am truly sorry for the recent loss of your father. Jerry told me a bit about your dad as I only met him the day of your wedding. As Jerry described him, I knew of his character through others I knew of that wondeful generation of our parents. I wish I could say that the wound of loss will heal, but as Jerry has experienced, I don't think the pain of losing a parent ever leaves...at best it will heal over an ever lasting scar. The deeper the loss, the closer the spiritual connection was between you and your dad; and that is the blessing you need to hold high with reverence today and tomorrow. As time passes, your feelings of loss will be replaced by genuine "love" communicated through your memories of him. God bless you and your family at this difficult time and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jon, I am so sorry and having lost my dad I understand what you're going through.  I hope you can revel in the good times and joyful memories that you have.  I'd like to recommend a book by Tim Russert if I may.  It's titled Wisdom of Our Fathers.  It had a lot of stories from people about their fathers.  It was nice to read about people who thought so much of their fathers as I felt of mine.

My dear Uncle Dale...may you finally be pain-free and rest in peace.   I will always have fond memories of summer visits at your home, your wit and your intelligence.  You are a gentle soul and were always kind to everyone.   I know Bernice and the kids are feeling a great emptiness right now.  Time will lessen the sadness and the feeling of such a great loss. Peace.
