

Harvey, Richard Robert V, went home to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the age of 80. He was the loving husband to the late, Kay Klute Harvey. He is survived by three daughters, Kendra Jordan (Cary), Allison St. James, Jennifer Croy (Jefferson), his nine grandchildren; Evan, Griffin, Lindsey and Patrick Jordan / Courtney and Jordan Hebrank, Peyton St. James and Maxwell and Samantha Croy. Longtime companion of the late Sharon McGilaway and children, Margo Fanning ( Richard), Michael McGilaway (Lyn) and their children, Cailin and Matthew Fanning and Aloha and Bruce McGilaway.
Richard had a deep love and abiding faith in the Lord which was evident in the way he lived his life. He was born in Lewiston, New York to the late Richard and Agnes Harvey. He graduated from Lewiston High School and attended the University of Virginia.
During his early years Richard enjoyed the game of golf. He participated in the Porter Cup Golf Tournament, which his father, Richard Harvey IV, founded at the Niagara Falls Country Club, Niagara Falls, NY. Richard eventually became a scratch golfer.
Richard also had a passion for flying which he achieved when he joined the US Naval Reserves. He successfully completed his pilot license which enabled him to be a Naval Aviator and instructor, LTJG.
After meeting the love of his life, Kay Klute, in Pensacola, the two moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they established a home for their family. Richard started his career as the Executive Director of Patricia Stevens Career College. This was the beginning of his lifelong commitment to education.
Richard served on the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, AICS, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Webster Groves Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons, Webster Groves Rotary, and was the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church Confirmation Class Instructor. Richard was on many additional educational committees which gave him the opportunity to mentor many.
Richard was a devoted and kind, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He always saw the good in everyone and thrived on building new friendships. He had a zest for life that was contagious and it helped him keep a positive outlook thru all of his challenges. He truly embraced the vision of life!
A sincere thank you to the Webster Groves Rotary Club, Manor Grove Home and all the dear friends that supported and cared for him thru the years. He deeply cherished each and every one of those relationships!
SERVICE: A Memorial Service to Celebrate Richard’s Life will be held at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church (Sanctuary), 45 West Lockwood Avenue; Webster Groves, Missouri on
Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A reception at the church will follow.
