Ada Belle Davis, 87, of Welsh, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 peacefully at her residence surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born to her late parents, Mack and Pauline LaFargue on January 20, 1935 in Kinder, LA. Ada was in the church choir and a member of the Catholic Daughters at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing her children's clothing, gardening and working in her yard, arts and crafts, thrift shopping, and wrote "Uncle Booger" stories for the grandchildren. Ada enjoyed having coffee with the girls. Most of all, she loved her family and took great care of them.
She is survived by her four daughters, Suzette Vanek and husband Mike of Lake Charles, Bethany Doucet of Lafayette, Ava Davis of Welsh, Maureen Malphrus and husband Mike of Orange, TX; one son, Kirk Davis and wife Debbie of Jennings; sister, Mackie Poe; nine grandchildren, Gray Vanek and wife Joella, Gaston Doucet, Kade Davis, Devin Davis, Joel Davis (Mikayla), Logan Davis, Adrianne Davis, Michael Malphrus and wife Corrie, Jenna Malphrus; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; along with her lifelong best friend, Jane Davidson.
Ada is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, William "Babe" Davis; parents; two brothers, Rodrick James LaFargue, Charles M. "Cooney" LaFargue; two sisters, Gertrude LaFargue Slater Brown, Neva Jean LaFargue Irion; along with her son-in-law, Ralph Doucet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00am, with Father Susil Fernando officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Rosary led by the Catholic Daughters at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, from 8:00am until the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, where she will be brought to her final place of rest by her grandsons.
