Mrs. Ruby Lyons

She was a native of Bristol, LA and lived most of her life in Welsh, LA. Ruby had been a member of the choir of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and was a member of Court Stella Mari’s Catholic Daughters of Welsh.

She and her late husband, John, owned and operated Lyons Plumbing and Electric until their retirement. They spent many days together with family and friends, fishing at one of their camps, which usually culminated with “Monday Night Fish at the Lyons”.

Survivors include one daughter, Loretta Martini and husband, David of Shreveport; sons, Johnny Lyons and wife, Marsha of Welsh, Jimmy Lyons and wife, Michelle of Jennings; sisters, Judith Faul of Bristol and Bonnie Mercier of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and special friend, Chestor David. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lily Venable; her loving husband of 63 years, John; daughter, Donna Lyons Huval; and brothers, Emery Venable and Melvin Venable.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Father Herbert May will officiate. Burial will be at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Mausoleum. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh, Sunday 4-8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. til service time on Monday.
