Stephanie Catherine Fontenot

She lived in Welsh and was the former editor of the Welsh Citizen. She served numerous positions including president of the Executive Committee of the greater Acadiana Chapter of the MDA. She was very instrumental in fundraising, adult outings, summer camps, and recruiting new councilors.

Survivors include her parents Johanna Cormier and Leland Cormier Sr. of Welsh; one son, Kade Mark Fontenot and wife Elizabeth of Welsh; one brother, Leland "Buddy" Cormier Jr. and wife Carla of Iowa; one sister, Tem Jo Dieterich and husband David of Moss Bluff; half brother Joel Cormier of Lafayette; half sister Virgie Cormier of Lafayette; nephew Graham Dieterich; nieces Morgan Dieterich, Toni Cormier, and Jami Cormier. Preceded in death by, grandparents Matthew and Mary Catherine Meyer, Ceril and Hazel Cormier; and nephew Joshua Cane Cormier.

Her funeral will be at 11:00am Friday, January 14, in the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Rev. Gary A. Campbell will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 9pm and on Friday from 9am til time of service. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery of Welsh.
