Adelphia “Delphie” Cruz, age 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 30. Born in Weslaco, Texas, and a longtime resident of Harlingen, Delphie was known for her radiant smile, her unwavering faith, and her deep love for family and friends.
Delphie devoted her life to serving others. She faithfully served at Abundant Life Church, where she was a member of the board, volunteered countless hours with the Champion of Faith education classes, and poured her heart into the Women’s Ministry. Her acts of kindness, her servant’s heart, and her quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.
She worked at Reliable Life Insurance Company (Kemper) for 37 years, where her coworkers became more like family than colleagues. Her warmth, dedication, and generosity shaped every place she served.
A woman of grace and elegance, Delphie was always beautifully dressed and carried herself with a timeless style that matched her joyful spirit. She also enjoyed collecting perfumes, each bottle reflecting a piece of her personality and the beauty she brought into the lives of others.
Delphie cherished time with her grandsons, Sebastian and Ezekiel, whom she loved wholeheartedly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cruz, and her parents, Alejandro and Florencia Mascorro.
She is survived by her daughter Angie and son-in-law Adriel; her stepchildren Adrian, Zelda, and Joe Michael; her siblings Alicia Roman, Adela Tamez, Angie Fernandez, and Adan Mascorro; and many beloved nieces and nephews who adored her deeply.
Her loud laugh, joyous spirit, and bright smile will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
The family requests that those attending the funeral please wear red, Adelphia’s favorite color.
