Francisca S Solis

Francisca Solis, 92, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023 surrounded by her family in Weslaco, Texas. Francisca was born on March 5, 1930 in Linares, Nuevo Leon Mexico to Jose Sanchez and Abundia Gonzalez. She married Mike Solis Villarreal, a US Army WWII Veteran. They enjoyed traveling, as Mike was a Truck Driver at that time. Her world suddenly became ill and passed at an early age of 42 leaving her with their one year old son, Ivan to raise alone.

“Panchita” worked babysitting children from their infancy to when they needed to go to school in La Feria, Texas where she lived most of her life. This is how she quickly became known as “Mama Chica”. She was proud to know that among the children she cared for many continued to visit her as they became adults. They had chosen their own paths and had become Writers, Assistant Superintendents, Teachers, Chefs, Doctors, Pharmacists, and Leaders.

Francisca is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Abundia Sanchez, all her 11 siblings Margarita G Sanchez, Julia Sanchez, Amador (Juanita), Eusebio (Salie), Antonio (Beatriz), Maria (Valentin).

She is survived by her son Ivan Solis, Sr. (Hilda), Grandchildren, Ivan Solis, Jr. (Jeanine), Gina C Solis, (David), Marc A. Solis, and numerous nieces and nephews. May she rest in peace.

Services will be held at De Angel Funeral Home – Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596 on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc 109 S. Illinois Ave, Weslaco, TX 78596 Friday, February 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A burial will be at Highland Memorial Park on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
