She was born to Poncianllo Castillo and Francisca Casas Castillo on April 18th, 1931 in Los Indios, TX.
Leonarda is survived by her two daughters, Maria Teresa Garcia, Maria Elena Garcia, 4 sons, Alejandro Sánchez (Guadalupe), Gabino Sánchez (Isabelle), Sabino Sánchez (Martha), Juan Sánchez (Juany). Also surviving is her daughter in law Gloria Sánchez (Guadalupe†), over 30 grand children, and over 50 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Raquel Castillo Valladares and Maria Luisa Castillo García, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends.
Leonarda is preceded in death with her father, Ponciano Castillo and her mother, Francis Casas Castillo, her daughter Balbina Sánchez and her son Guadalupe Sánchez.
Leonarda lived in Elsa/Edcouch, TX for over 20 years. She enjoyed going to the Centro to play lotería, craft, socialize with her friends and even dance. She loved and cared for her family by cooking and gifting her precious crafts. Mom, you were always a wonderful mom and set a great example for all to follow. We will miss you greatly and you will forever be in our hearts. We love you!
A visitation for Leonarda will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland, Weslaco, TX 78596. A chapel service will occur Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home, Weslaco, TX 78596, followed by an interment at 1:00 PM at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco, TX 78596.
