On Friday March 19th Mary Lou Aguirre went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family. Although it broke our hearts to lose her, she was so ready for the Will of God to be completed in her life. Our family was blessed to have had the opportunity to celebrate her beautiful life and to pray with her as she entered her new life with Jesus.
Mary Lou Aguirre was born on October 19, 1937 to Arturo and Inosencia M. Mendoza in Weslaco Texas. She met the love of her life Armando Aguirre when they were 15. They married on February 2, 1958 and were married for 45 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary Lou was a woman whose faith was untouchable and had a special devotion to Our Lady of Schoenstatt, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Holy Rosary which she prayed for everyone.
She loved to travel always saying “I’m ready” and was an avid Weslaco Panthers and Dallas Cowboys fan. Mary Lou Loved a good concert and got to see Alejandro Fernandez, Pepe Aguilar, Los Angeles Azules, Juan Gabriel, Paquita la del barrio, Tito Puente, Cher, Ricky Martin, JLO and countless other musicians. In her free time Mary Lou liked to do word searches, tell jokes, watch the Price is Right and her family knew not to disturb her during the hours when her favorite novellas were playing.
Mary Lou was her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s number one fan present at every sporting event, dance recital and awards assembly. She showed her love for everyone in her family through the various dishes she prepared. Mary Lou was spontaneous and adventurous and once she set her mind to do something no one could persuade her otherwise, like the time she traveled to Chicago in an 18-wheeler with her grandson to spend time with her brothers.
Whether it was a friend of the family‘s or a stranger she was willing to embrace them and help them out in any way she could and she never met a person that didn’t leave as a friend.
Mary Lou was devoted to her family in all aspects and her brothers and sisters remained close throughout her lifetime. Although some of her siblings lived several states away from each other, the love that they had for one another was present until the end.
Mary Lou loved to spend time with her siblings in California and Chicago and took time to visit her countless nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Christmas was her favorite time of year. Mary Lou loved going Christmas tree shopping and always left with the biggest tree that she could find and took pride in the fact that she would decorate every room in her house. One of her favorite traditions was hosting an annual Christmas party with her family, and she was always on the hunt for the perfect present for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
During the last week of her life, she had the opportunity to say her goodbyes to family and friends offering final blessings to every one of her visitors and celebrating with mariachis and her favorite foods.
Mary Lou is survived by her children Rosalinda Mendoza (+Alfredo), Angel Armando Aguirre Jr. (Hilda), Rosanna Piñon (Mario), Alberto Aguirre, Alfredo Aguirre (Velma), Rosalva Mata (Ruben),
