With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Regino Ramos, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother, faithful servant of God, and a man of quiet strength and unwavering character. He was called home to be with the Lord on [Date of Passing], leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and humility.
Born on September 7, 1941, in Saltillo, Coahuila, to Juan Ramos Alvarado and Leonarda Lara Piña, Regino’s early years were shaped by a deep love for learning, hard work, and family responsibility. From a young age, he was dedicated to helping his loved ones, rising early to complete chores before heading to school. Though he dreamed of becoming a teacher, he selflessly set aside his ambitions to support his family—a decision that reflected the selfless and generous heart he carried throughout his life.
Regino eventually settled in Ejido San Andres, Tamaulipas, where he grew up among family. At the age of 29, he married Maria Constancia Ramos, with whom he shared a devoted and loving marriage. Together they raised three children: Maria Isabel Noriega (Carlos+), Juan Pablo Ramos (Gloria), and Sandra Ramos, instilling in them the same values of faith, perseverance, and compassion that defined his life.
Regino worked for 39 years at Hidalgo & Cameron Counties Irrigation District #9, where he was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and unwavering loyalty. He always gave his best and then some. Though he considered retirement earlier, he chose to remain by the side of his trusted colleague Dale until they retired together in November 2012—a testament to his dedication and character.
In 1980, after a near-tragic experience involving his wife and newborn daughter Sandra, Regino surrendered his life to Christ. From that moment on, he never looked back. His faith became the cornerstone of his life. He was a man of prayer and deep biblical understanding—someone who not only read the Word but lived it every day. He served at Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana for 15 years and later at Christian Missionary Alliance Church, now known as Rio Life Church, where he remained active until his final days.
Regino was a humble and simple man who found joy in the quiet moments of life and the presence of his loved ones. He loved his family deeply and was generous, caring, and kind to all. He extended compassion to everyone he met—offering his help, his prayers, and his heart without hesitation. But above all, he was a man who loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart. His life was a living testimony to that love. He rose and rested on his knees in prayer, faithfully interceding for his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and anyone in need. He worshipped and honored God until his very last breath—an enduring example of a man after God's own heart.
He found joy in the simple pleasures—fishing, dove hunting, raising goats and chickens, singing praises at church, playing baseball in his church league, and caring for any animal that happened to show up at his door. His favorite moments were spent playing and laughing with his grandchildren, leaving them with memories they will treasure forever.
Regino is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Maria Constancia Ramos, and their children: Maria Isabel Noriega (Carlos+), Juan Pablo Ramos (Gloria) and Sandra Ramos. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Noriega family – Benjamin Caleb, Josiah Matthew, Hannah Grace; Ramos family – Iliana Karis, Nyla Berenice; Reyna family – Isaiah Romeo, Ethan Ryan, Devon Rae and Logan Daniel.
He is also survived by his siblings: Juan Ramos (Catarina), San Juana Ramos, Tomas Ramos (Griselda) and Alvaro Ramos.
Regino was preceded in death by his parents Juan Ramos Alvarado and Leonarda Lara Piña; his siblings Maria Ramos de Cantu, Francisca Ramos de Rios, Vicente Ramos, Ferrer Ramos, Francisco Ramos, Crispin Ramos; and his son-in-law Carlos Noriega.
His life was one of humble strength, unwavering faith, and deep love. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will continue through the lives he touched, the prayers he offered, and the example he set.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
