Alice Rose Santisteban was born on August 30,1927 in Los Angeles California to Jose and Maria Alatorre, she was the second child of 6 siblings. She was raised in a loving home that consisted of her Brothers Fernando, Charles, Richard and sisters Linda and Rachel. She attended 2nd street school Hollenbeck Jr. High and graduated from Roosevelt High School in June1946. She loved family picnics, movies at the Meralta, Joy, Vern, Brooklyn and Strand Theaters. Her favorite actor was Robert Taylor.
On December 7, 1946 at Saint Mary's Church in Boyle Heights Mom married our Dad Salvador Santisteban, they were married for 51 years. Together they enjoyed dancing, listening to the big band music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw and Count Basie among others, she also loved Mariachis and Trios who sang Boleros. Her favorite singer was Frank Sinatra she also liked Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and Perry Como. Believe it or not She also liked the Beatles. She loved to go to parties, when we would ask dad where mom was he would answer: “ you know her party, party, party”.
At 45 She became a Teachers aide at Harrison Elementary School in City Terrace. She worked there for over 20 years she enjoyed working with the children, staff and made life long friends.
Alice had 5 children, Fernando, Federico, Rosendo, Margo and Lawrence. She has 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She loved her family and friends.
