Victor Manuel Ortiz was born on February 22nd, 1944 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico. His parents were Jose Ortiz and Martha Iturbide and was the youngest of 2 children and survived by his older sister Rosario Gaxiola. He married Lourdes Vega on Februaury 21st, 1965 at the young age of 21 and then had 2 sons, Hector Manuel Ortiz and Jose Victor Ortiz. In 1970, they packed up their belongings and decided to move to California, to have a better future. After living in Los Angeles for a few years and found stability, they had 3 more children, Veronica Ortiz, Henry Ortiz and Ismael Ortiz. Our dad worked in the paper company business which we all know now by Xerox or Kelly Paper Co., for many years, until he suffered a stroke in 1997. His life after the stroke wasn't easy, as he loved to be out and about, running errands for a mechanic shop he helped run, take his occasional drives to T.J. to go eat seafood and go watch his 2 younger sons play baseball. The last 23 years weren't easy for him, not only did he struggled with not being able to move his whole right side and having speech problems, but dealt with the devastating loss of his oldest son, Hector on August 15th, 2014 and almost 3 years later lost his wife Lourdes, on January 9th, 2017. He always kept a smile on his face, was always happy to be around people, regardless of his disability and loved to talk about old stories of his younger days in Mazatlan, which he loved dearly. He will be missed dearly by family and everyone who knew him. He meant a lot to so many people, his kids, grandkids, extended family and friends. Sadly, his life ended way too fast, as he was so full of life, always in good spirits and wanted to live his life as long as possible. He is survived by his 4 kids and 10 grandchildren. You will be missed and we will always love you, Apa.
