Roland graduated from Torres High School and attended Lyceum University where he graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts. He had an outstanding career in sales with Reynolds Aluminum Philippines. He then ventured to set up his own successful aluminum trading and small manufacturing business. He left all of that to migrate to the U.S. in order to give his family a better opportunity and brighter future. In the early years, he worked a variety of jobs, some of which took him to another state away from home, all to support his family. He then became the vice-president of a small chain of computer stores across multiple states, specializing in PC clones during the peak of the IBM PC Compatible Era. He then entered the real estate business until he had a stroke, which unfortunately ended his career prematurely. After his recovery, looking at it from a different perspective, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it allowed him to spend more time in the Philippines, reconnecting with friends and family, and enjoying the tropical fruits, especially his favorite – lanzones.
Roland also enjoyed going to Santa Anita Racetrack, betting on the horses, and playing Mahjong.
