Ato Abera Teferi was born on July 19, 1951 in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, from Wezoro Tezerawork Teferi and Ato Fiseha Mekonnen. Ato Abera’s father, Ato Fiseha Mekonnen passed away while Abera was still a young child; therefore Ato Abera was lovingly raised by his grandfather Balambaras Teferi Yinesu.
Ato Abera inherited wisdom and strong faith from his grandfather at an early age and later on he became a humble, kind, and above all a God fearing Christian man. As soon as he completed his high school education he was employed by LeElet Tsehay Hospital & Tikur Anbesa Hospital as a registrar. Soon after that, he was also employed by a Jantela Factory, and then employed by the Kotebe Metal Factory as H.R. personnel. Finally Ato Abera served as a general manager at Berhanena Selam Printing Enterprise until he came to U.S.A after serving his country for a total of 25 years. Ato Abera was very disciplined, high achieving, and had a very strong work ethic. Even though supporting a family and having a demanding career is not easy, he managed to find the time to take courses at Addis Ababa University and was awarded a certificate. He was highly appreciated by his peers, friends, and family throughout his lifetime because of his expanded knowledge as well as compassionate heart.
Since he arrived in the United States in 2003, Abera, a loving father and husband continued to support his wife, children and relatives in Ethiopia. He also made sure his children had a love for education, a strong faith, good character, and a vision to make a difference in the world. Ato Abera unexpectedly became ill in a short period of time and although everything possible was done to save him on August 09, 2010 he went home to be with the Lord. Ato Abera Teferi Yinesu will be missed by his three children, wife, relatives, friends, and everyone who crossed paths with him.
