Anthony "Tony" P. Lisac Jr.

Anthony Philip Lisac Jr. passed away May 8, 2025 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center. Visitation for Tony and Phyllis will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. at McLaren’s. Burial will be on Friday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Tony was born on January 11, 1936 to Anthony and Frances Lisac on a farm in Numa, Iowa. The family moved to Des Moines when Tony was 15 years old. After high school Tony joined the Navy. He traveled around the Mediterranean on an aircraft carrier while learning to weld. After the Navy, he worked for Des Moines Public Schools in the woodworking shop.

Tony met Phyllis Corso on a blind date set up by one of her friends. They married on September 26, 1959. Tony started his own woodworking business in the basement of their house before moving into a building in West Des Moines. Phyllis took care of the business’s paperwork. Together they had a successful family business that included remodeling homes and offices, making furniture, jewelry display cases, and even a few spiral staircases. Their two sons joined the family business and worked together until Tony retired and closed the business in 2014.

Tony is survived by his children Stephen (Pazza) Lisac, Paula Hibbs, Sharon Lisac (Wayne Dolezal), and Matthew Lisac; three grandchildren, Cameron (Nick) Spain, Nolan (Amanda) Lisac, and Sam Hibbs; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Madden Spain; sister Mary Ann (Ron) Marshall; and sister-in-law, Marla Lisac. He was preceded in death by his wife on January 6, 2025, his parents and brother, Don.

The family is grateful to Spurgeon Manor for the love, care, and attention they gave Tony and Phyllis over the past 2 ½ years.
