Barbara was born on June 30, 1924, to Walter and Katherine (Hafner) Landwehr in Des Moines. She attended St. Ambrose School and was a graduate of North High School. Barbara worked many years as a payroll manager for Firestone and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She married Robert Black on June 27, 1947, and together they had one child, William. After the death of Robert in 1987, she married Cliff Brafford in 1993. Cliff died in 2013.
Barbara was preceded in death by her two husbands, her brother George and stepsons Joe and Mike Brafford. She is survived by her son Bill (Karen) of Anthem, AZ, stepson John (Sandi) Brafford of Johnston and stepdaughter-in-law Rikki Brafford. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive Barbara.
Funeral services will be 10 am on Wednesday, June 2, at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral chapel with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
