Beverly Dolores Powell, 90, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Karen Acres in Urbandale. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at McLaren’s.
Beverly was born February 14, 1927 to Thelma and Orine Bonsness in Columbus, ND. She lived a majority of her life in Urbandale with her husband, Louis Powell who preceded her in death July 7, 1994. Beverly served in the West Des Moines School system and retired from teaching after 35 years. Her greatest joys in her retirement years were spending time with her grandson, Ryan and daughter, Shelley but she could often be found doing crossword puzzles and gardening.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Shelley Pigneri; grandson, Ryan (Jessica) Pigneri; and great-grandson, Cole.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
