Byung Duk Song, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm.
Byung Duk Song was born on March 8, 1938 in Im-Sil, South Korea to Young Man Song and Sun Yo Yi. He and his wife, Choon Im, were married in 1957. His joys included gardening, exercising, traveling, enjoying time with family, and eating at Nut Pob.
He is survived by his wife, Choon Im; four children, Eun Sup (Kyong Ae) Song, Kung (Sun) Song, Amy (Robert) Kientz, and Il Sup (Helen) Song; nine grandchildren, Gina (Daniel Kim), Minge, Autum, Minsu, Hannah, Alex, Mina, Mariah, and Yuna. He is preceded in death by his father, Young Man Song, and mother, Sun Yo Yi.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation, as well as the hospice staff from Suncrest Home Health and Hospice, whose response, care, and compassion during a difficult time were very much appreciated.
