C. Boyd Granberg

Dr. C. Boyd Granberg was born on May 6, 1921, at home, in Wessington, South Dakota. He died August 31, 2025 at 104 years old. The family will hold a private burial of the mixed ashes of Margaret (Peg) and Boyd Granberg at the West Des Moines Christian Church Memory Garden at a later date.

He was awarded a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University in 1942 and served as a pharmacist with the 32nd Army Field Hospital from April 1943 through November 1945 in Algeria, Italy, the Philippines, and Japan.

He received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmacology from the University of Illinois, and joined the faculty of the Drake University College of Pharmacy in 1960 where he served until 1984, the last seven years as dean of the college.

He and Margaret Daly Holcom were married on April 8, 1955. Peg preceded him in death on August 6, 2000. Their son, Brian Lee, died on March 8, 2002, at the age of 51.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Niewiarowski (Ron) and Siri Linn; two granddaughters, Bridget Gilligan (John) and Devin Devlin (Charles); three great grandchildren, Austin Boyd, Lillian Faith and Vivienne Claire; three nieces and one nephew.
