Candy Hodges, 60, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones after a valiant battle with cancer on Sunday, October 10, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Candy was born July 11, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids, baking, cooking, traveling, doing yardwork, making people laugh and fishing for catfish.
Candy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gary Hodges of West Des Moines; son, Tod (Abby) Hodges of Indianola; daughter, Jennifer Hodges of Norwalk; six grandchildren, Tod Hodges, Jr., Jordan Bessler, Kaylee Hodges, Billy Thompson, Aidan Hodges and Amelia Hodges; two sisters, Kathy (Gary) Turner of Arkansas and Char (John) Massey of Des Moines; twin brother, Jim (Shelly) Thomas of Ankeny and many nieces and nephews.
Candy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Catherine (Gilligan) Thomas.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the John Stoddard Cancer Center or Hospice of Central Iowa.
