

Bud was born December 11, 1921 in Amsterdam, New York, the son of Courtland R. Burnham and Cornelia (Brownell) Burnham. He was a graduate of Bryant Junior College, Providence, Rhode Island class of 1941. He served as a cryptographer in the army air corps World War II, serving in Europe and Africa from 1942-1945. He received the European-Africa Middle Eastern Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Bud was a graduate of Syracuse University in 1947 after the war.
Bud married Ruth Ann Martin in 1949 in Chicago. He retired from Travelers Insurance in 1984 after 38 years serving as manager of the accounting and field auditing department. Bud was an avid golfer, reader, and traveler. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. Bud was a charter member of the Urbandale Golf and Country Club.
Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth; sons, Jeff (Vickie) Burnham of Parker, Colorado and Mark (Jan) Burnham of Des Moines; grandchildren Eric Burnham, Rachel Burnham, Joel Burnham and Jessica (Joe) Gillen. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean and brother Gordon.
