Dale Alan Scheideman passed away peacefully March 26, 2018 due to natural causes in Little Rock, AR where he has lived for the last 6 years. He was born January 29, 1936 in Fort Dodge, IA to Arno and Ruth. Dale attended Fort Dodge High School and Junior College, Parsons College, Iowa State Teachers College and later graduated with a master’s degree from Drake University.
After growing up and working hard on a farm, throughout high school and into college, he was active in various sports that he loved - many of which he continued to coach at smaller high schools in Iowa and finally at Valley High School in West Des Moines, IA where he taught Driver’s Education for many years. He was previously married to Bonnie (Hoyer) and was active in his local church throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Koester; two brothers, Rex and Kent; and a young son, Todd. Dale is survived by three sons, Greg (Kelly) of Little Rock, AR, Brad (Mindy) of Hampton, IA, and Brent (Tricia) of Becker, MN. He also was blessed with nine grandchildren, Blake (Claire), Erika, Cade, Brecklyn, Elle (Jacob) Johnson, Macy, Abe, Eli and Milo. Dale is also survived by one younger sister, Sandy (Jim) Wolfington of New Braunfels, TX.
Dale built on his Christian upbringing until later in his life when he came to have peace, joy and a love of the Bible, prayer and other Christians but most importantly a hope in heaven that was founded only on his trust in the finished work of Jesus’ death on the cross for his sins and resurrection. One of his favorite verses was Romans 10:9 which says “For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Please join us in celebrating his life Saturday, March 31, 2018 where there will be a visitation at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. service at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801 - 19th St. in West Des Moines, IA 50265. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
