

David Michael Bolfik, 72, of West Des Moines passed away February 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. A celebration of life mass will be held 12 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Dave was born March 1, 1944 to Louis and Ann Bolfik of Lansing, Illinois. He graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Dave taught math and coached high school wrestling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Marcus, Iowa. He also coached girls track. He received his Masters of Mathematics from Kansas State in 1973.Dave married Susan Kempton on January 28, 1967 in Sioux City, Iowa.
Dave entered the insurance business as an agent and Trainer of insurance agents with New York Life. The family moved to West Des Moines in 1985. Dave earned Designations as a Charter Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC). He joined Honkamp Krueger Financial Services in 1999. Dave educated CPA firms and prospects about insurance products. He retired in 2009.
Dave enjoyed playing tennis for numerous years at Aspen. Dave had a way of making people laugh and making people feel comfortable enjoying the moment. His humor, wit, laughter and kindness will be missed by all who knew him well. His family was his pride and joy.
Dave is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Debi Bolfik (Dustin Ennis); son, Michael (Jennifer) Bolfik; two grandchildren, Gage and Caydence Bolfik; brothers, Larry Bolfik (Erma Dean)of Tempe, AZ, Jim (Karen) Bolfik of Savannah, GA; sisters, Mary Lou Bolfik of Pikesville, MD, Celeste (Steven) Froehlich of Montclair, VA; sisters and brothers in-law, Sandy (John) Graser of Sioux City, Iowa, Judy (Denny) Ray of Mesa, AZ, and Patti Nellessen of Mesa, AZ; his best man Jim (Connie) Galles of Sioux City, Iowa; cousins, Barb (Bill) Berens; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family, HCI Kavanagh House or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
