David Kirk Green passed away on November 8, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center after a short battle with Lung Cancer at the age of 64 years. His family and friends were by his side.
David Kirk Green was born on July 5, 1961, in Des Moines.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 38 years, Jean Ann; daughter, Brooke (Thomas) Adamovicz of Des Moines; son, Kevin (Danielle Brockman) Green of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren, Elena Adamovicz, Owen Green, Olivia Adamovicz, Ethan Adamovicz, Arya Green, William Ripperger and Xander Ripperger all of Des Moines; four sisters, Kelly Kokemuller of Des Moines, Heather (Don) Johnson-Gornick of Norwalk, Cheri (Jody) Judge of Des Moines and Nancy Johnson of Des Moines; stepbrother Mark(Evelyn) See and many nieces, nephews, relatives and as close as family friends Jessica and Lexi Hove.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda L. Johnson (Willcockson) and stepfather Dennis W. Johnson; father, David J. Green; father-in-law, Richard H. Bobenhouse and stepbrother Dennis Edward “EJ” Johnson.
Kirk was the epitome of a good human. His kindness and calming spirit never wavered. His devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters and mother-in-law was unconditional.
Kirk spent his whole life working in the IT/Programming field where his love for computers and technology served him as a means to provide for his family and his passions. He recently was employed with the State of Iowa. When not working, he spent a multitude of hours fulfilling his dedication and enthusiasm to teaching Tae Kwon Do where he achieved a 3rd degree Blackbelt and was known as Master Kirk.
When he wasn’t working (which was rare) he enjoyed science fiction, computers, traveling, video games, cards 3-13, DIY woodworking projects but most of all he would seize every minute spending time with his family.
There will be a visitation for Kirk from 10 to 12pm, Monday, November 17, 2025 with services following immediately after at McLaren’s Chapel at 801 19th St, West Des Moines, IA 50265
