Don was born on December 2, 1939 to Russell and Marie Fredregill in Des Moines. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Brown, on August 29, 1957. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before Sandra’s passing in 2019. Don and Sandra were world travelers, taking frequent trips to the Middle East. The two enjoyed exploring new places together and taking family trips. Don was an avid outdoorsman. He liked working in the yard, going hunting and fishing, and camping.
Don was a knowledgeable man who was skilled in many areas of life. He worked as superintendent for Polk County Parks before deciding to follow in the family business as a bricklayer and carpenter. He worked on projects which included construction of the mile-long bridge over the Saylorville Dam and the elementary school at Adair-Casey Elementary School. Don retired after 25 years of working at Nationwide Insurance as a Regional Loss Control Manager, at which time he decided to further his education. At the age of 72, Don received his Doctor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies from Trinity College of the Bible and Trinity Theological Seminary. He taught at William Penn, DMACC, and Upper Iowa University up until January of 2021.
Don was deeply religious. His devout convictions led him to a faithful relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, his personal Savior. Don served as an elder in many churches beginning in 1977 and served up until his last days.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Donald T. Fredregill and Daniel (Lyn) Fredregill; daughters, Cathy Fredregill, Christene (Steve) Fredregill Hilton, and Kelly Ann Fredregill Al-Tourah; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
