

Donald Robert Reed, 80 passed away January 22, 2015 at Hospice of Volusia in Port Orange, FL. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with entombment at the Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Chapel.
Don was born January 25, 1934 in Des Moines to H. Ray and Olive (Ferguson) Reed. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War. Don was a salesman for Proctor and Gamble until his retirement. He loved discussing politics, the Chicago Bears, Princess Fiona (his dog), and most of all his family who will miss him dearly.
Don is survived by his wife, of 45 years, Linda (Heuton) Reed; daughters, DeVon (Dennis) Snow, Dawn (Bob) Rafferty and Dione “Chico” (Dan) Twelmeyer; son, Dean (Trisha) Reed; twelve grandchildren, Jordan, Morgan, Hali, Lauren, John, Jonathan, Drake, Faith, Grace, Anika, Levi and Peyton; sisters-in-law, Shirley Disney, Deanna (Bill) Slocum, Connie Heuton and Debbie Reed; brothers-in-law, Larry (Jane) Heuton and Lonnie (Lois) Heuton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lauren Dean Reed; sister, Winifred Jean Cole; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Malinda Heuton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a Hospice of the donor’s choice.
